Evolution scores Game of the Year at EGR Operator Awards for its MONOPOLY Live
For the second consecutive year, leading B2B provider of video-streamed Live Casino, Group AB (EVO:Stockholm), has won the Game of the Year award at the 2019 EGR Operator Awards. This year it was the special edition of its popular Dream Catcher game, Monopoly Live, that got the winning votes.
Evolution took home the coveted award on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at the ceremony held at Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
In 2018, the provider’s Lightning Roulette was the “recipient” of the award.
“Winning back-to-back EGR Game of the Year awards is something we never dreamed of.”
Major competition:
The Swedish firm managed the big win after beating out 13 other shortlisted companies all competing for the prestigious award that recognizes the operator or game studio that has created the stand-alone game that has been the most impactful over the last dozen months.
Operators who were shortlisted for one of the Operator Awards were responsible for voting for the winner of the Game of the Year category while multinational professional services network, Deloitte, officiated the voting process.
Winning game:
Monopoly Live was developed by way of a sublicense from global lottery and gaming solutions firm, Scientific Games Corporation (NASDAQ: SGMS) and is available only from the supplier.
Based on one of the most popular board games in the world, the unique live online game comes complete with the chance of earning big ‘multiplier’ wins, 3D Bonus rounds that are built around the exploits of Mr. Monopoly and augmented reality.
The rights to the Monopoly brand are held by the Las Vegas-based corporation [Scientific Games] via a license agreement with global play and entertainment company, Hasbro Inc., (NASDAQ: HAS), which in 1991 acquired Parker Bros., and subsequently the world-famous game.
Back-to-back wins:
Commenting on the honor, Chief Product Officer for Evolution, Todd Haushalter, said after the ceremony…
“We are honoured to win this award for MONOPOLY Live and it has been a true pleasure to work with one of the world’s best-loved brands to create such a unique game.
“Winning back-to-back EGR Game of the Year awards is something we never dreamed of. We make games we think players will love and that we want to play ourselves and that is always our focus. However, to be once again honoured by our peers in the industry with this award is so very special and something that motivates us all for 2020 and beyond. A huge thank you to everyone at Evolution that made this a reality.”
Company business:
This year has been an eventful one for Evolution, having recently secured Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board license and being named Casino Content Supplier of the Year at the 6th edition of the EGR Italy Awards held on October 3 at the Rome Cavalieri, Rome, Italy.
In related news, the supplier recently announced that it had signed a “landmark deal” with global sports betting, gaming and entertainment provider Flutter Entertainment brands Paddy Power and Betfair. Under the terms of the agreement, the group’s two brands will offer their customers Evolution’s entire Live Casino portfolio, including titles such as Deal or No Deal Live and Lightning Roulette.
